Great Movie

If you haven't already, please treat yourself to Into the Wild. Travis and I watched it last night and both really liked it. I had wanted to read the book but Netflix was too quick. I think I'll read it anyway. I am searching for the same escape and I am just a bit jealous of Alexander Supertramp.

I really liked this movie until I read this on Wikipedia:

"In July, after living in the bus for several months, he decided to leave, but found the trail back blocked by the Teklanika River, which was then considerably higher and swifter than when he crossed in April. There was an easy method of crossing a short way down the river. Unfortunately, McCandless was unaware of this because the only navigational aid in his possession was a tattered road map he had found at a gas station, which did not contain the type of detailed topographical information which could so easily have saved his life. [2]"

I'm all for living a more free life but I think at times a bit of common sense goes a long way. I don't know, maybe I'm missing the point and being too practical but it just made me loose interest in "Alexander Supertramp".

I did buy the CD and love it!

I read the book and found it quite sad. I totally understand the feelings of wanting to drop this superficial life and get back to finding a simplier, more meaningful existance. But one wrong decision can quickly end the life of one incredible being. Sad... I think there is so much to be done and found in ones own backyard that it isn't necessary to take off in search of what is on the other side. What did Dorothy say in the Wizard of Oz?
